Join WDA for this two part program on the efforts of the San Francisco Public Defender and the San Francisco community on improving re-entry for persons upon completion of their jail sentences. The first of two webinars addresses Tthe San Francisco Public Defender’s Office re-entry unit which provides its adult clients with an innovative blend of legal, social and practical support through three programs: the Clean Slate Program, the Children of Incarcerated Parents Program, and the Reentry Social Work Services component. This unit, in conjunction with the community-based project, has helped to reduce sentencing, avoid recidivism and has saved the state over $5M and the county over $1M. Re-entry unit manager Simin Shamji will present on how the re-entry unit has been successful in assisting people to return to the community.
