The Trial Advocacy Program is a three day intensive training designed for attorneys seeking to improve their advocacy skills.  In this workshop-based program, we focus on the development of a theory of the case, and applying the theory to trial skills.

Who May Attend

WDA’s Trial Advocacy Program is open to all WDA members; however, space is limited to eight workgroups comprised of eight participants.  Six workgroups are in the main learning track; one learning track is dedicated to dependency
practitioners; and another is for juvenile court practitioners.  Assignment to these tracks is on a first-come, first served basis, and the main track is open to all practice areas.

Costs

Tuition is free to WDA members. Attendees pay only the costs of room and board.  The price of $360 for a single occupancy room or $255 for double occupancy includes a room for two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn, dinner on Sunday and breakfast, lunch & coffee service during the program.  Dinner on Monday is on your own.

Our Co-Sponsors

WDA extends its appreciation for the co-sponsorship of our partners, without which our program would have been greatly limited in its size and scope.  The Washington State Office of Public Defense is sponsoring one main track workgroup and the dependency workgroup.  TeamChild with support from the Models for Change Initiative & the Juvenile Indigent Defense Action Network (JIDAN) has made possible our inclusion of the juvenile workgroup.  Special thanks to Joanne Moore, director of the Washington State OPD, Anne Lee, executive director of TeamChild, and George Yeannakis, special counsel to TeamChild, for their continued support of our programming.
