State OPD Furlough Closure Dates

The Washington State Office of Public Defense (OPD) will be closed Friday, August 6, 2010 due to state budget reductions.  There will be no pick-up and delivery of U.S. Mail, Federal Express or UPS.  OPD staff will receive telephone messages and emails on the next business day, Monday, August 9.

Pursuant to ESSB 6503, OPD is achieving its mandatory state budget reductions through temporary layoffs (also known as mandatory unpaid furloughs) of staff in its Olympia office.  Savings achieved through staff furloughs help OPD maintain its direct service obligations, including payments to local programs and private contractors. 

In addition to the August 6, 2010 closure, OPD will close on the following dates through June 2011:
