Washington's Budget Gap Now Forecast at 2.6 Billion Dollars

The state government has released a revised revenue forecast. The budget deficit for the remainder of this two-year spending period is now $2.6 billion. Lawmakers say they'll consider everything to deal with the shortfall, from shuttering government programs, to closing business tax loopholes and raising taxes - the most politically dicey option.

The Seattle PI has published an interview with Gov. Gregoire on this issue and her plans for dealing with the budget gap.  You can find the article here.
