National Juvenile Defender Center: Juvenile Defender Policy Advocate
The National Juvenile Defender Center seeks an experienced and dynamic attorney with a minimum of five years of experience and a demonstrated interest in juvenile defense and juvenile justice policy issues. The juvenile defender policy advocate will be involved in all facets of the organization’s substantive work including designing and conducting comprehensive defender training; providing technical assistance and support to juvenile defenders nationwide; researching and writing manuals, educational materials, publications and legal briefs; representing the NJDC at professional meetings and national symposia; conducting site visits and court observations; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidate must have five years or more of demonstrated experience in juvenile defense, juvenile justice, civil rights, human rights or related areas. The position requires excellent written, organizational, analytical and communication skills as well as a strong work ethic. Candidate will be based in Washington, DC but must be available and willing to travel. The National Juvenile Defender Center is an equal opportunity employer.
